Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois - Internship
I completed my 499 internship requirement with Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois from July 2023 - present. TRS is located in Springfield, IL. I was recruited by the Executive Director, Stan Rupnik and hired remotely as a strategic planning and analytics intern to assist the executive cabinet in implementing their new strategic plan. In the last year I've helped provide insight for changes to TRS's communication strategies, including updating the official TRS website, conducting research for best digital engagement practices with TRS staff and members, analyzing TRS's social media channels, and making recommendations for approaching an active digital media presence. Using my expertise in Canva and Hootsuite, I currently work as an adminstrative intern with TRS's Director of Public Relations on designing and publishing content for TRS on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The picture below is me visiting Springfield this past summer with Sally Antonacci, TRS's Executive Officer (left) and Janelle Gurnsey, TRS's Director of Public Relations (right), both of whom have tremendously impacted my professional experience working in a state agency.
Projects & Work Completed
Below is some of the work I've completed in my time as TRS's strategic planning and administrative intern. Over the last summer I've worked extensively on TRS's rebranding, including picking the official color branding, updating the website, and uplifting staff work and achievements. Displayed below are posts I've designed and published to boost engagement among TRS's employees and members. My work demonstrates what I learned while taking Social Media Strategy and the skills I've developed in graphic design, organizational branding, content planning, and social media engagement tactics.
