My Code of Ethics
TREAT PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS
I believe that kindness is contagious. When I choose to be kind, I give myself more grace and want to pay that feeling forward. By choosing kindness I am more empathetic, considerate, and respectful, which allows me to be a better sister, friend, partner, colleague, and mentor.
DON'T STRESS ABOUT SOMETHING BEFORE IT HAPPENS UNLESS YOU WANT TO GO THROUGH IT TWICE
I constantly stress myself out thinking about important deadlines, professional opportunities, and events before they've even happened. I worry down to the most insignificant details and find myself panicking over things that always turn out fine. This code is very important to me because it helps me remember that overthinking does nothing but show you different scenarios that will likely never happen - so why stress over them?
LOVE YOURSELF
I am someone who spends a lot of time with introspection and reflection. I am not always kind to myself when I spend time thinking about my decisions or shortcomings. However, it is impossible for me to get out of my head. Therefore, if I am going to spend a lot of time in my brain, I might as well make it a nice place to live by loving myself.
STAY TRUE TO YOUR VALUES
Remain committed to values of truth, responsibility, and fairness. You know what is right and what is wrong. Hold yourself accountable, admit fault, and continue to grow as a kind human. Do not be tempted to become cynical about the world. Be the change you wish to see.
BE PRESENT
Future Kathleen will look out for herself the way you have always looked out for her. Living through every moment is a gift -- that's why it's called the present! Don't sacrifice the present to make things convenient for the future.
